My name is Ingvild Maria Thingnes, and I work as a dance artist, cultural manager and producer based in Stavanger.  I grew up in Førde/Vevring in Sunnfjord, until I moved to Bergen for high school (2012-15) and Stavanger for university (2015-18).

I have a broad field of interest for different ways of working with and for art, and I'm particularly interested in different forms of artistic co-creation and collaboration, as well as researching different methodologies connected to dance and movement. I'm interested in meeting different kind of audiences, and invite them into the work through interaction or co-creation.

Since 2020 I've been invested in building and developing the multidisciplinary artist workspace KRA in Stavanger, together with friends and colleagues Eduardo Scaramuzza and Anna Klungre and a fluctuating community of ~30 artists. In addition to sharing studio/work spaces we are regularly hosting events, process showings, shared practices and residencies. I believe that our work environment and collegiate plays an important role in our artistic practices and creations.

As a performer I am grateful to be working regularly with Hagit Yakira Dance and Kunstgrillen interdisciplinary performance ensemble, as well as having the chance to create my own work and collaborate with other artists such as long time collaborators Live Skullerud and Sarka Benedova. I have a love for somatic practices and contact improvisation, and moving in dialogue with different spaces and people.

As many other artistic freelancers, my life is a patch-work of roles and responsibilities. I sometimes take work as a producer for other projects (such as Hagit Yakira, DRIV Dansekollektiv, Nathalie Wiberg...), hold workshops and do mentoring. I have also been involved in several projects at Kunsthall Stavanger since 2021, especially part of their kids-program. In 2026-28 I am substituting as "vara" within the performing arts committees in the Norwegian Arts Council.

I have my education in dance from the University in Stavanger (2018), with an exchange semester at Escola Superior de Danca in Lisboa (2017). I attended Vertigo International Dance Program in 2019, and attended several cultural/social entrepreneuring programs around 2020 such as Ovasjon, Storhaug Unlimited and Vippepunkt. In 2021-22 I attended Sku-Da's mentoring program. The past years I've found a particular interest in Skinner Releasing Technique, and did several intensives spanning all the 15 classes. ​I've been involved in several boards: DansiS (2021-24), KRA (2020-26), and Norske Dansekunstnere Storstyre (2023-25).
